Your WiFi works fine in the lounge but dies in the bedroom — and you’d love to see why instead of guessing. The WiFi AR app (by Wi-Fi Solutions) does something clever: it uses your phone’s camera and augmented reality to paint your wireless signal strength, speed and ping right onto the room you’re standing in. Walk around your house and the weak spots reveal themselves visually. Here’s what the app genuinely offers, where it falls short, and whether it’s worth the install in 2026.

What “WiFi in AR” actually means

Normally you check WiFi strength as a tiny icon or a number in decibels. WiFi AR turns on your camera, overlays measurements on the live view, and lets you walk through your space while the app maps coverage around you. Strong zones, weak zones, dead corners — you see them as you move. It also works for mobile data (LTE/5G), not just WiFi. The concept is genuinely useful; the execution has caveats, covered below.

    What the app shows you

    • Signal level in AR: find the best spot for your router or access point by watching the visualised strength change as you walk.
    • Speed and ping values: current connection speed and latency displayed in space — helpful for finding the lowest-latency corner for online gaming.
    • Interfering networks: spot neighbouring WiFi networks that crowd your channel; switching to a less busy channel in your router settings can genuinely help.
    • Multi-router check: if you have more than one router or an extender, see whether your phone actually switches to the stronger one as you move.

    Where it genuinely helps

Three scenarios make this app worth trying. First, router placement: instead of guessing, walk your rooms and put the router where coverage is most even. Second, gaming and video calls: find the spot in your home with the lowest ping before an important match or meeting. Third, shops and offices: small business owners can check whether their WiFi actually reaches the customer seating area. For general internet saving and offers, pair this with our guide to legit free internet offers on Pakistani networks.

    Honest limitations you should know

    • It needs ARCore. The app requires Google’s AR framework, which your phone will download separately — and older or budget phones may not support it at all.
    • Mixed user ratings. Public reviews are divided; some users report paid features not working as expected and saved scans disappearing. Try the free functions thoroughly before spending anything.
    • It can’t boost your speed. Visualising a weak signal doesn’t fix it. No app can magically increase your ISP’s speed or reveal WiFi passwords — any app claiming that is lying.
    • Privacy declaration. The Play Store listing states the app may share location and personal info with third parties. That’s a real consideration for an app that maps your home.
    • Contains ads. Expect advertising in the free experience.

Setting it up and taking your first scan

    1. Install WiFi AR from the official Play Store listing (developer: Wi-Fi Solutions) and let it install ARCore if prompted.
    2. Grant camera and location permissions — location is required by Android for any WiFi scanning, and the camera drives the AR view.
    3. Stand near your router, start the AR view, and slowly walk through your rooms, keeping the phone steady.
    4. Watch how the visualised signal changes; note where it drops sharply — walls, metal doors and mirrors are the usual suspects.
    5. Move the router to a central, elevated spot and re-scan to compare. One change at a time, so you know what helped.

WiFi tips that matter more than any app

An AR visualisation is fun, but the fixes are boring and effective: place the router centrally and high up, not inside a cabinet; keep it away from microwaves and thick concrete walls; use 5 GHz near the router for speed and 2.4 GHz for range through walls; restart the router occasionally; and if one room stays dead, a properly placed extender beats any software trick. Mobile data users should also look at forcing 4G or 5G mode on Android when the phone clings to a slow network.

    Can it earn you money?

Directly? No — the app has no rewards, payouts or referral income, and you should distrust any “WiFi earning app” that promises them. Indirectly, the skill is saleable: plenty of households and small shops in Pakistan will pay someone to properly set up their router, extend coverage and secure their network. That’s honest handyman-tech work, and an AR visualisation makes you look impressively professional while doing it. Just don’t sell the app as the product — sell the solved problem.

Is the WiFi AR app free?

The app is free to install with ads, but some features are paid. User reviews suggest testing the free functions carefully before buying anything, as experiences with the paid features are mixed.

Why does WiFi AR need ARCore?

ARCore is Google’s augmented-reality framework — the app needs it to overlay signal measurements on your camera view. It’s a separate download, and phones that don’t support ARCore can’t run the AR features.

Can WiFi AR increase my internet speed?

No. It visualises your existing signal so you can make better decisions (like moving the router), but it cannot boost your ISP’s speed. No app can — speed comes from your connection and hardware.

Can it show me WiFi passwords of nearby networks?

No, and that’s a good thing. It only displays signal and network information for networks your phone can already see. Any app claiming to reveal passwords is either fake or illegal — stay away from it.

Is WiFi AR safe to install?

The official app by Wi-Fi Solutions is a legitimate utility, but its Play Store data-safety section says it may share location and personal info with third parties. Install only from the official listing and review the permissions before granting them.
