You’ll see a lot of content online claiming prompt engineering is some guaranteed high-income skill or an entire freelance industry waiting to be tapped into. The reality is more modest. Being good at writing clear, specific prompts is a genuinely useful skill, the same way being good at writing clear emails or clear instructions to a coworker is useful. It’s not really a standalone profession for most people so much as a skill that makes you noticeably more effective at whatever you’re already doing, whether that’s content writing, coding, customer support, or design work.
If you’re spending time getting better at this, think of it less as chasing a new income stream and more as getting more value out of tools you’re probably already using anyway.
